During their recent trip to the Kherson region, Agape staff undertook a special mission: evacuating a family from Kherson, where the husband had suffered a second stroke.
The family is now temporarily residing in Lutsk, and the husband is undergoing rehabilitation at the Agape complex. During the evacuation, the team came under fire but managed to safely leave the dangerous area.
Additionally, during the trip, 200 sets of household cleaning supplies were delivered to residents of the Kherson region, along with medicines and bandages for a local medical center.
A brief history of the family:
Andriy, the husband, experienced his first stroke in 2021 and recently suffered a second one. The family had lived in Kherson for many years, owning their own home, working, and raising their children and grandchildren.
When the war began, they chose to remain in Kherson, enduring the occupation as the occupiers constantly searched for Ukrainian soldiers.
The liberation of the city was a true celebration for them, but shelling continued unabated. Living in the center of Kherson was fraught with danger: shelling occurred in the morning, afternoon, and night. People ventured outside only for urgent needs.
Andriy’s wife shared that after his first stroke, he was bedridden for three years due to minimal rehabilitation and a lack of motivation to recover. Her deepest hope is for Andriy to regain independence: to get out of bed on his own, move around the house, and use the bathroom without assistance.
“I’m so grateful that we are now receiving rehabilitation at the Agape complex,” she says.
